Moving from blogspot to your own custom domain name

If you already have a free blog courtesy of Google @blogspot.com, perhaps it's time to move to a more custom domain name for your blog such that instead of your blog being addressed as me.blogspot.com, it would now be addressed as me.com.

Changing domain name for blogspot blogs is quire easy and you can do this as blogger allows you to.

Things you will need for custom domain name with blogger
- A purchased domain name
- A blogger account

How to do it

- Go to any domain registrar and register for a domain. Costs about $10 per year
- When your domain is active, go to the control panel
- Change the Cname settings as follows:
under www enter sub domain
under Cname enter ghs.google.com
- Go to A records and point to 4 Google ip addresses as follows:
216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21
- Wait for some hours 1 or 2 for it to update
- Log into your blogger account
- Go to the settings and then publishing
- Change the blog address to your new custom domain e.g. me.com
- Go to the advanced settings
- Enter your new blog url as blog address
- Save your settings

Just wait for some minutes and it should be updated. Now you and your visitors can go to your custom blog address freely hosted under blogger blog.
