Free hosting is limited

If you do get a free web hosting account as some hosts or website dealers do offer, chances are that a time comes when you might need more than that free hosting can offer you - You may eventually have to pay for it.

In the long term, free hosting is insufficient unless the website is not growing at all. Besides most web hosts would probably not keep offering free hosting unless there is a way for them to get paid for doing so - Resources are limited.

If you make use of free web hosting or intend to do so, I wouldn't advice holding onto it for the long term since it could be short changing you. If your website is growing, you should plan to choose from efficient web hosting plans.

Some web hosts offer free web hosting that only allow a limited number of files or storage size. Some prefer you upgrade when you exceed a particular bandwidth limit while some also offer you free hosting as long as you contribute content for them. In all of these, your potential will not really be utilized to its fullest but it could give you the initial exposure you really needed. In a way, it's not all that bad to be on a free hosting plan since both parties tend to gain some benefits from it.

A free hosting plan is cool for a start but would not give you as much benefits as paid hosting would give you.
