Netfirms Dreamweaver MX 2004 FTP settings

If you are connecting to your Netfirms web hosting account with Dreamweaver, one of the things you'll need to do is configure FTP settings suitable for the web server at your web host.

After my computer crashed, I had to do a new windows installation as well as for Dreamweaver Mx 2004, my web building too.

I initially installed Dreamweaver on my system and forgot how to re-install the settings that once worked for me and so after a couple of trials and errors, I'm writing this down so as to be a reference point for me and for others in the future who may wish to use the same settings if they run into similar problems.

The basic settings are in the remote info details and I'll just list them below.

Access: FTP
FTP host: e.g. webhostingnigeria.com
HOST DIRECTORY: public_html
login: Your username e.g. webhostingnigeria
password: Your password
Use passive ftp: check
Use firewall: blank
Use secure FTP: leave blank

After including the necessary settings, you should click on test and if successful, you'll get the response "Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 connected to your Web server successfully"

If the settings change in future, you can always get the ftp information from your web host's help center and just use the same on your Dreamweaver tool or any FTP tool you may be using.
